8am service
This is a traditional weekly Sunday service of Holy Communion using the Book of Common Prayer. It is a ‘said’ service, meaning there are lots of prayers and words read out from the BCP and no songs.
9.30 service
The 9.30 service has a pattern throughout the month.
On the first Sunday of each month we have an all-age service which we use as an opportunity to have everyone together. Children are encouraged to take a part in leading the service and we might try different things, like new songs or different ways of praying together. Songs are accompanied by the music group.
On the second, fourth and fifth Sundays of each month we have a more traditional Holy Communion service. We say liturgy (set words) together as a way of learning and praying, and there is a robed choir. There are more periods of quiet in this service. Children are very welcome to join in, or they may prefer to join in with Sunday Club from 9.15am on the second and fourth Sundays in the church hall, where they can have breakfast and learn about faith together in a fun environment.
Third Sundays are experimental ground for us at the moment as we seek to find a balance between the ancient and modern. Everyone is very welcome.
6.30pm Evensong
Evensong uses the Book of Common Prayer and is a traditional service. It has a quiet and intimate feel.
Cafe church
On fifth Sundays we sometimes have an afternoon service in the church hall instead of having Evensong. We’ve called it ‘cafe church’ as you will normally find a relaxed atmosphere with tables and chairs set out, with drinks and sometimes even nibbles! This is still very much an experimental space so anything could happen. Check the What’s On page for dates.
